ABA recommends 40 hours per week of therapy. If you add the $10 most line therapists make, that is $20,800 per year right there. In addition to the line therapist, one must also pay more expensive rates for a lead therapist/ consultant to train the therapists and analyze the data. Then there's private speech which my SLP is $15o per hour twice a week which is $15,600. Then OT twice a week for another $15,600. My insurance specifically has a clause which states it will NOT pay for any treatments (ANY!!!!!!!!!) of autism. These are not quack cures. This is standard research based therapies. Perhaps you should try to be less judgmental of your friend.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33596809.post-11047264810277534232011-02-14T11:53:50.376-08:002011-02-14T11:53:50.376-08:00It is an expensive treatment indeed, this is where...It is an expensive treatment indeed, this is where I think our society is in the wrong path, a lot of children and adults also die because they can afford a specific treatment, if we call ourselves an advance race, this is not the way we should act.Generic Viagrahttp://www.erectnow.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33596809.post-17116801528662326632009-03-28T17:21:00.000-07:002009-03-28T17:21:00.000-07:00Perhaps you are not familiar with the cost of doin...Perhaps you are not familiar with the cost of doing high-quality ABA-based intervention. (The only kind of intervention that is empirically supported by research to demonstrate gains across developmental domains for young children with ASD.) Or perhaps in your geographic location this type of intervention is very inexpensive... because in my area, to run a home-based program for 25 hours per week (as recommended by the National Research Council), supervised by a Ph.D. level clinician with a BCBA credential and implemented daily by Masters or Bachelors-level clinicians would certainly entail accumulating a debt of $50,000 over the course of two years. And, for the most part, insurance companies DO NOT reimburse for these services, unless you are lucky enough to work for Microsoft.cbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05992924426890792745noreply@blogger.com
